March is Women’s History Month

The National Women’s History Month’s theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.

Women from every background have long realized that an uneven playing field will never bring equality or justice. Many feel the critical need to speak up and work harder for fairness in our institutions and social interactions.

In February, Dr. Jill Biden announced that the Biden administration had approved $100 million in federal funding. The money will be used to invest early in “life-changing” work being done by women’s health researchers and startup companies that cannot get private support, Biden said.

“We will build a health care system that puts women and their lived experiences at its center,” she said. “Where no woman or girl has to hear that ‘it’s all in your head,’ or, ‘it’s just stress.’” Where women aren’t just an after-thought, but a first thought. Where women don’t just survive with chronic conditions but lead long and healthy lives.”

This year we celebrate women who advocate for women’s equity, diversity and inclusion in medical research, allowing them to live a healthier life.
